I use acrylics to paint my feathers. The feathers are from a variety of different types of birds. Some feathers I have found, others generously given to me, and others I have purchased. I have never personally hurt a bird for their feathers.
Some feathers are illegal to use, so you can be assured that I follow the guidelines of which feathers are okay to use for painting.
Now, sit back and browse through my "birdbrained" featherart gallery. Don't fly the coup, now you hear. There's alot more ahead!
